The Future of MTL
Whilst funding has been withdrawn for future development of the MTL, teachers who are already studying for the MTL will be funded to complete the programme. The Secretary of State of Education has stated: “The quality of teaching and teachers’ professional development are of utmost importance, and I am committed to developing a strong culture of professional development where more teachers acquire postgraduate qualifications like Masters and Doctorates and where teachers are supported to progress further academically and deepen their subject knowledge.” Please be assured that the seven higher education institutions in the North West will continue to offer a wide range of Masters Level qualifications appropriate for teachers across the region. Please contact your preferred HEI for more information: |

MTL Coaching The TDA will be supporting the ongoing training of MTL coaches – for new MTL coaches who, for example, are coaching existing participants who have transferred schools – and for continued update training for MTL coaches. Update training for coaches who have attended the initial training is being provided through MTL Coaching Conferences – one was held on 12th July 2011 and another is being proposed for 2012. Those becoming an MTL coach for the first time are now expected to work through the NWMTL online training programme. You will need to enter your details on the registration page. Once registered you will be emailed a password and log-in. You are then expected to work your way through the training programme which has been designed to help you identify and address your specific needs. Please note we are required to monitor the progress of each coach through the training programme. |
